Turtle Dove/ Tórtola europea
Maximum size: 27 cm
They live in forest boundaries and bulrush areas in warm climates with
bioclimatic, Mediterranean top soil.
They visit the peninsula in summer and they breed on trees.
They can often be seen strolling or taking short flights along paths
They can also be seen in the vicinity of wetlands, lagoons and riverbanks.
They feed on leaves and seeds.
They are included in the Red List of Birds of Spain and Andalusia,
and their conservation status is ‘Vulnerable’.
