Grey Plover / Chorlito gris
Maximum size: 30 cm
They live in wetlands, marshes, coastal areas, salty lakes, salty lagoons,
beaches, estuaries, lagoons and mud-flats near the shore. They have a considerably
different plumage in winter than in summer.
They feed on molluscs, crustaceans, and invertebrates in general which
they find in the muddy-banks and areas covered in slime.
It is not an abundant species and they are difficult to be seen. Although
they spend the whole year in the Spanish Peninsula, they are more abundant
in the migratory corridors.
They favor muddy, slimy spaces.
