Common Crane / Grulla
Maximum size: 110 cm length – 200 cm wingspan.
This is a wintering species in the Iberian Peninsula, particularly
in the grazing-lands in Extremadura. They also winter up north in the Laguna
de Gallocanta, Zaragoza, feeding in the cereal-fields.
They live in marshes and paddy-fields where they gather in flocks,
even though they are a migrating, temporary species in Doñana.
They are included in the Red List of Endangered Vertebrates in Andalusia
and in the National List of threatened Species: their conservation status
