They favour clear spaces bordering woods, pinelands, bulrush, riverbanks
and lagoons, all near crop-fields, pastures, meadows full of thymes and
other aromatic plants or barren land, mainly in the Thermo-Mediterranean
zone up to the 2,200 m, reaching Sierra Nevada in the south of the Iberian
They feed on arthropods and weed-seeds. They nest on the ground.
They are included in the Red List of the Vertebrates of Spain.
They are included in the National List of Threatened Species.
