Slender-billed Gull / Gaviota picofina
Maximum size: Size: 40 cm – 90 to 102 cm wingspan.
They live in coastal areas, marshlands, salt-water and semi-salty lakes
and lagoons, as well as coves, deltas, beaches, and riverbanks.
In Spain they live in the Delta del Ebro, Albufera de Valencia, Laguna
de Fuente de Piedra (Málaga), and the salt-lakes in Almería,
Alicante, and Murcia, as well as in the marshes by the River Guadalquivir.
They nest in Doñana, the Albufera de Valencia, and Punta Entinas-Sabinar
in El Ejido and Roquetas de Mar (Almería). They are not particularly
abundant in Doñana where they concentrate in salty ponds and the
estuary. They feed on insects, crustaceans, fish, etc.They are included
in the List of Threatened Species of Valencia; conservation status: ‘Vulnerable’,
and in the Red List of Threatened Vertebrates of Andalusia.
